10 days in Kanazawa

Saikal Ismailova

Neurology Department, Krasnoyarsk State Medical University

Preventive Medicine Program

This is my second trip to Japan, Kanazawa. The first time I was in January 2018 at the Kick-off Symposium named «Japan-Russia Leaders of Tomorrow». Then it was winter, unusually warm for the Siberians. This time it is summer, but the weather is certainly different from Krasnoyarsk. In the summer here as it turned out very stuffy, air is humid.

4 post-graduate students from Russia came to Kanazawa University on an exchange program for training. Neurologist, pulmonologist, neonatologist and cardiologist. Everyone was distributed according to the specialty. The first week I’ve visited the Department of Neurology & Neurology of Aging. I have very good impressions both about the staff and about researches conducted at the Department. Some similar researches are conducted in our Department as well. I would like to thank the staff of the Department for the hospitality, warm welcome and interest they showed to Russia and Russian culture.

-Professor Yamada & Dr. Sakai, Department of Neurology & Neurology of Aging-

During these few days in this Department I got new knowledge about the leading researches in the field of neurology in Japan & about health care system of Japan. The work and rest regime is very different in our countries, for example, in Russia, doctors work five days a week and have 55 days of vacation during 1 year, while in Japan 10 vacation days.

The Japanese are very diligent, they are very responsible to work, concentrated and working day longer than usual in Russia.

The second week I was in Kawasaki's lab with my colleague Tatiyana. Japanese colleagues gave us a real tea ceremony in the laboratory, it is worth noting that the matcha tea was tastier than the one in tea ceremony in Kenroku garden.

It was an incredible experience of interaction with Japanese scientists and doctors, I have wonderful memories of these 10 days in Kanazawa.

-Professor Kawasaki and his lab-

During these days we were able to see the Kanazawa castle, Kenroku garden, and at the weekend we even visited Kyoto with all its magic castles and temples. Impressions were the most enthusiastic, certainly want to go back there many more times.

Thank you very much for this opportunity to visit one of the kawayiest countries in the world.
