Studied in KFU

Masanari Tennomi

Division of Mechanical science and Engineering, Kanazawa University

Advanced Science and Technology Program

Kazan Federal University

Although this was my first time studying abroad, I had many experiences that I could not have gained without going to Russia.
Kazan
I spent the first week at KFU (Kazan campus). Although the research activity time was very short, about 3 days, I belonged to the laboratory  and worked on issues related to the Robot operating system (ROS). Although I was a complete beginner in terms of ROS, I was able to accomplish the task with the support of professors and lab students. Also, for lunch, I was able to eat various delicious local dishes by being taken to various cafes recommended by students in the laboratory every day.

During my free time, local students guided me around Kazan, so I was able to spend a very meaningful time because I visited tourist attractions such as the Kremlin and Baumann street, as well as local restaurants.

Elabuga
When I moved from Kazan and visited the accommodation for the first time, I was surprised in various ways, but now I think it was a good experience. At Elabuga, we were able to experience a lot of things, including a factory tour at Ford Solar and exchanges with students at the KFU Elabuga Campus. In particular, the children of elementary school students at local international schools were impressed by the fact that they used 3D printers to create their own designs and worked on programming learning like Japanese university students.

Also, the interpreting students who worked together during the activities in Elabuga were all very friendly and very caring about us from all aspects. I am very grateful to them.

Conclusion
Through this study abroad, I was able to experience many things that I could not have experienced in Japan.
I am very grateful to the local students and other people who helped me.
