To Coexist between Culture and Nature

Gaku Ogiwara

Cultural Exchange Program

Moscow, Kazan, and Saint Petersburg

One of the most impressive things I experienced during my studying abroad is the beauty of the Church on Split Blood in Saint Petersburg. There are many wall paintings that are made of many glass pieces in the church. The reason why wall paintings in the church are made of them is geographic factor that humidity is high. If we used oil paintings to decorate, high humidity would give them cracks. I found that the church was built taken into account some geographic factors, and this means the church tells people that it is important to coexist between culture and nature.

The other thing that I learned is how the city looks like. The view of Saint Petersburg is very bright by lighting. I guess that the city looks bright because the hour of sunlight there is short in winter, but people can enjoy ordinally lifestyle by lightning.
