Advanced Science and Technology Program
I did my internship at Kanazawa University in the summer of 2019. The program was very extensive. I attended lectures on ecology, recorded videos about local attractions of the Noto region, and worked at the Sodick factory and in the university laboratory. The lectures were very useful, and I learned a lot of interesting things. It was an honor to meet with the mayor of Suzu and discuss the problems of the Noto region. The work at Sodik was very diverse. I was engaged in both hard physical labor (welding, installation of apparatuses) and mental work (analysis of physical and aesthetic properties of the produced pasta products). The company's employees were very friendly and responsive. The equipment I worked on was state-of-the-art. During my time at Sodiсk, I have gained a unique experience. My deep gratitude to the staff! After visiting Sodiсk factory, I went to work in the quantum chemistry laboratory under the guidance of Professor Ida Tomonori. I was involved in calculations of the pyrolysis of formic acid. After completing the task fairly quickly, Professor Ida and I discussed the results and made a poster.
After that, he wished me good luck and a pleasant stay. I visited many beautiful places in Kanazawa and its surroundings, and learned the history of the city and the country. I consider this month of work in Japan is one of the most significant events in my life. Japan is an amazing country with advanced technology and amazing people. Thanks!
Special thanks I want to say to Anastasia Bushmakina for her translation abilities, Mariko Akita for taking care of us, Yoshihito Hayashi for interesting stories about the culture of Japan, Ida Tomonori for cooperation, Isao Katsushika and Naoya Honda from the Sodick factory for excellent practical skills and a great time.
