I joined Saint Petersburg Symposium held in Saint Petersburg/Russia on June 26, 2018. The purpose of this symposium is to introduce our research and to find out collaboration points between Kanazawa University and St. Petersburg State University. As a member of this event, I presented an X-ray imaging detector developed for high-energy astrophysical phenomena. Unfortunately, there was no Russian researcher who is engaged in astrophysics, but they were interested in the detail of its electric circuit, imaging method, and so on. I also took an interest in their numerical simulations which can be applied to some scientific fields.
Next day, we were shown around facilities of the university. Before the visit, I had assumed that the university is famous for theoretical methods, for instance, mathematics. However, there are the latest model of experimental equipments of biology, chemistry and physics, so I think it is comfortable for both researchers in the university to study.
Above all, I am pleased with the very kind and friendly people who live in Saint Petersburg.
