We visited to Lake Baikal on August 15 to study about biodiversity and environment problems of Lake Baikal. We took a cruise on the lake. We drank its water at that time. Lake Baikal’s water is less the amount of contained minerals and metal ions by contrast with general water. As a reason for that, Epischura baicalensis (one kind of shrimp) and Sponge filter impurities out. So its water is pure and we can drink it without a water treatment. It was so delicious. Because of the pureness and clearness of the water, the lake has the highest transparency of it in the world. I heard that we can see down to 46 meters. I was surprised because I've never seen such a beautiful lake.

On August 16, we visited to Lake Baikal again by the Trans-Siberian Railroad. We spent three days at Tankhoy, in Republic of Buryatia. In Baikal Biosphere Reserves, we studied about life of Buryats, how to live people with nature for long time, many problems concerning environment and what we can do to keep and use nature for many years to come. I saw “we live on the same planet” in a new light and I’ll continue to think of the way of our life because I don’t want to lose these good natures.
