9月17～18日，カザン連邦大学において，Fundamental Science and Emergent Technologies for the Sustainable Development in XXⅠ Centuryをテーマに，本学とカザン連邦大学とのジョイントシンポジウムを開催し，本学から大谷吉生副学長ほか16名の教職員と，16名の大学院生が参加しました。シンポジウムは，ドミトリー・タユルスキーカザン連邦大学副学長と，大谷副学長のあいさつに始まり，その後両大学の教員・研究者が研究発表を行いました。また，両大学の大学院生は，自身の研究テーマに関するショートプレゼンテーションを行った後，ポスター発表を行いました。
17日には，イルシャット・ガフロフ学長への表敬訪問を行い，本学のカザンオフィスの開所式が行われました。本オフィスは，カザン連邦大学の協力のもと，同大学内に設置された本学の海外事務所で，今後の両大学間の共同活動の拠点になることが期待されます。

On September 17th and 18th, a Joint Symposium by Kazan Federal University and Kanazawa University took place under the theme of “Fundamental Science and Emergent Technologies for the Sustainable Development in XXⅠ Century” at Kazan Federal University, Russia. Vice President for International Affairs Yoshio Otani, 16 faculty and staff and 16 graduate students from Kanazawa University participated in this symposium. Vice President Otani and Vice Rector Dmitrii Tayurskii of Kazan Federal University made opening remarks, and the researchers from both universities made presentations. The graduate students from both universities also made short presentations on their researches and participated in poster presentations.
On September 17th, Vice President Otani paid a courtesy visit to Rector Ilshat Gafurov, and Kanazawa University hosted the Opening Ceremony for Kanazawa University Platform in Kazan. This office located in Kazan Federal University is the oversea office of Kanazawa University established with cooperation of Kazan Federal University. It is widely expected that Kazan office becomes the base of joint activities between the two universities.
