After arriving in Irkutsk State, we took a boat and drove on the Lake Baikal, whose total volume is 23.6 trillion cubic meters and it is both the deepest and the largest fresh lake, which with a maximum depth of 1,637 meters, in Eurasia. During the journey on the lake, the sailors gave us the water from the deep lake,we love that fresh taste. But unfortunately, the water in the Lake Baikal cannot be drunk directly because of the increasing number of tourists and the increasing pollution.
Then we went to Baikal museum, which processes biological models and advanced technologies can exhibit the geography and ecology of Lake Baikal clearly. For example, all species lived in different seasons, the reasons of why the purity of water quality unchanged for hundred years, etc. This museum trip really reminded us how important it is to protect Lake Baikal and what's the meaning of Lake Baikal to the whole world's environment. Protecting Lake Baikal takes a great significance to all mankind.
After that we went to the Visitor Center which called `birds and people`.
Because of the good water quality, there are plenty of food which attract a large number of birds every year. What the volunteers' should do is to find the bird caught by the clapnets. Then measure their size and mark them to make their own `passport`. We watched every process and have learned a lot, like how to make a clapnet and identify some kinds of birds. It was a very interesting experience for me.
