Today I went to see the Bronze Horseman and Hermitage Museum.
The model of the Bronze Horseman is Russian emperor Peter the Great. Empress Catherine the Great decided to make this statue in 1770. This statue was perfected in 1782 by French sculptor. It is traditionally said that as far as the Bronze Horseman is good Russian can keep the peace and security of Saint Petersburg. When this statue was strictly protected at World War? The city didn’t occupied by German army.
As to Hermitage Museum, we could be there for only 2 hours. Frankly speaking we didn’t have enough time to spend to enjoy there. There were several memorable works for me. Two of them were works painted by Leonardo da Vinci. When I found them I was touched. I actually have little knowledge of paintings. Even I’m person like that I know him. That’s why I was excited. In addition, works of Rembrandt van Rijn were so amazing. His way to paint light and hands attracted me so much. I was happy to see a lot of amazing works.
It was time to return to Japan after we saw around Hermitage Museum. I had worried about a lot of things about Russia. This was partly because I cannot speak Russian. However, thanks to Kazan Federal University students, I could have much good time. They welcomed us and were kind for us. This stay in Russia became my treasure. I hope I can see the best people again someday.
