This is my second time to visit Kanazawa and I like it so much! My study goes well in here, but I also enjoy the city and local nature, especially mountains, forest and humid air. Last time, in January, I met new Japanese friends in Kanazawa, who introduced me interesting places to see, so this time I was able to guide my Russian colleagues. I explained how to use the bus and JR, because it is not simple for foreigners, I think. We walked all around the city, including the central park (Kenrokuen), castle, Oyama shrine, the Kanazawa station, but also climbed the mountain (Tomuroyama), walked through the countryside to Yuwakuarayamachi, where we tried the onsen. Me and my colleagues were excited about such trip, especially when we asked people directly at the place, without checking the internet. Fortunately, I can ask and understand Japanese a bit and Japanese people are very kind. There were no bears in the mountains, but we found fireflies in the evening nearby to Kenrokuen.
I found a nice and quiet yakiniku place nearby the guesthouse (~30 min by foot).
I also tried hanton (ハントンライス) in the Takara-machi campus cafeteria and green tea in Higashi Chaya.
It was wonderful journey for me! Thanks KU and KFU for such opportunity.
