Cultural Exchange Program
Moscow State University
In this program, we learned a lot about culture different from that of Japan. Most of them are so fresh for me, who had ever been to foreign countries before this program. One of the things I was impressed by was that city of Moscow was not so overcrowded although it had a population of 16 million (including suburban area), which was the most in whole Europe. And more, city of Moscow is even now continuing expanding. For example, the nearest station from the hotel where I stayed started operating since 2017, only 2 years ago. The image I had having before our visiting is that Moscow was developed city and there must be some problems like aging population in Japan. On the other hand, the population of whole Russia is now decreasing like that of Japan, so I noticed that population concentration to capital area is the problem that both Japan and Russia have. We may be able to find the hint of city development from Moscow, and by visiting many cities in Russia not only Moscow, we may be able to distinguish the situation that has occurring domestically and globally.
