Kazan Federal University

Delegates of Kanazawa University visited Kazan Federal University on Dec. 10 and 11. The main objectives of this visit were to discuss the student exchange program for 2019 and to visit a candidate Russian company which will accept KU students for the Internship program while they are in Kazan. Prof. Dmitrii Tayurskii, a vice rector of KFU, faculty members and staff of Kazan Federal University warmly welcomed us. Besides discussions, we had a chance to visit the Kazan Kremlin, which was inscribed as a World Heritage in 2000. It is far more beautiful and magnificent than I imagined from photos on website. Thanks to Prof. Tayurskii, we also had a chance to taste Tatarstan cuisine, which, I think, most Japanese prefer. Kazan is the capital city of Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, where you will see unique culture influenced by both Isramic and Christian cultures. The university was founded in 1804, where Vladmir Lenin and founders of modern chemistry, Aleksandr Mikhailovich Butlerov, Vladimir Vasilevich Markovnikov, etc., studied. Both the city and the university are definitely attractive. It is worth visiting. I hope many KU students will apply for the program for 2019 and actually visit Kazan.
