What I Experienced in Russia
Koki Nagashima
Kanazawa University, Division of Material Chemistry
Basic Science Program
Saint Petersburg State University
I went to Saint Petersburg, Russia for the first time in September. I joined a coordination chemistry laboratory in Saint Petersburg State University for one month. I synthesized platinum complexes and analyzed by 1H NMR, ESI-MS, IR and so on. I haven't used platinum, but I'm in coordination laboratory in Japan. So the basic operations were not different so much and I could discuss our research with my buddy.
I participated in the big international conference, named 21st Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry. Mendeleev is one of the most famous scientist and he created Periodic Table. This was a conference comemorating 150 years since he created Periodic Table. I was so lucky that I could take part in. I was so surprised that the opening ceremony was very gorgeous. I presented my research to some foreigners with the poster.
I was able to make some foreign friends not only Russia but Mexican. They were so kind and always helped me. They liked my Japanese souvenirs. I had many wonderful experiences in this program.
