Cultural Exchange Program

Moscow University

I participated in culture exchange program and visited Russia from August 26th to September 4th. I looked at and experienced culture and nature of Russia. I appreciate everyone who were involved in this program. In this program, we could interact with students of university in Russia. I could interact with Russian students not only as an event but also personally. They were so kind to us and taught us a lot of things. I was glad to know that Russian people were interested in Japan and Japanese culture and like them through these interactions. I thought that we, Japanese, should be interested in foreign countries and culture. They guided us to the popular and famous places and popular restaurant of Moscow. We ate Russian traditional food Briny, it was like crepe. On the other day, we went shopping to the supermarket with a Russian student and had Russian famous food, drinks, and snacks with her. She taught us Russian style dinner and teatime. We enjoyed talking and dinner. On the 8th day, we interacted with students of Moscow University in Moscow University. We listened to the presentation and introduced Japanese culture, for example, kimono, calligraphy, chopsticks and origami. I interacted with two students who studied Japanese literature and was able to speak Japanese. We played game with chopsticks and taught how to fold a paper crane and enjoyed talking a lot about Japan and Russia. They spoke Japanese very well and knew about Japan well, so I thought that I study hard like them. I was surprised that they were able to use chopsticks very well!
